Scandinavian Journal of Urology (SJU) is an international, non-profit Open Access online scientific journal. SJU aims to be a forum for clinical urologists, publishing high-quality original urological research. Contributions from all parts of the world are welcome. The journal is owned by the Acta Chirurgica Scandinavica Society.
Publication Fees
Authors agree upon submission that they understand that article processing charges (APCs) apply to papers accepted for publication in the Scandinavian Journal of Urology. APCs cover the costs of copyediting and publishing the journal. Upon acceptance of a manuscript, the corresponding author will be issued an invoice for the APC.

- Research articles and review articles: EUR 1990 / USD 2180
- Research letters, case reports, and letters to the editor (not commenting on a publication in SJU): EUR 990 / USD 1080
- Invited editorial comments, news and views, and letters to the editor (commenting on a publication in SJU): No charge
- Supplementary Material: EUR 25 / 27.5 USD
APC Discounts and Waivers
HINARI/Research4Life
The Scandinavian Journal of Urology adheres to the HINARI/Research4Life waiver policy for developing countries.
Scandinavian Association of Urology (Nordisk urologisk förening; NUF) Members
A 50% discount on the APC will be granted until the end of April 2025 for papers whose corresponding author is a member of the Scandinavian Association of Urology (Nordisk urologisk förening; NUF).
BIBSAM Consortia Agreement
Authors affiliated with institutions that are members of the BIBSAM consortium benefit from free publication in the Scandinavian Journal of Urology based on an agreement between BIBSAM and MJS Publishing, effective from January 1, 2024.
To qualify:
- The corresponding author must be affiliated with a participating BIBSAM institution, you can see them here: https://www.kb.se/samverkan-och-utveckling/oppen-tillgang-och-bibsamkonsortiet/bibsamkonsortiet/deltagande-organisationer.html.
- The research must be conducted primarily at the affiliated institution.
- The institutional domain email must be used for both submission and publication.
If you are eligible for any of the above discounts or waivers, please indicate this to the Editorial Office upon acceptance by sending an email to invoice@mjspublishing.se and include your submission number and grounds for an adjusted APC.
Decisions regarding APC discounts and waivers are at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.
