Scandinavian Journal of Urology (SJU) is an international, non-profit Open Access online scientific journal. SJU aims to be a forum for clinical urologists, publishing high-quality original urological research. Contributions from all parts of the world are welcome. The journal is owned by the Acta Chirurgica Scandinavica Society.
Publication Fees
Authors agree upon submission that they understand that article processing charges (APCs) apply to papers accepted for publication in the Scandinavian Journal of Urology. APCs cover the costs of copyediting and publishing the journal. Upon acceptance of a manuscript, the corresponding author will be issued an invoice for the APC.

- Research letters, case reports, and letters to the editor (not commenting on a publication in SJU): EUR 990
- Invited editorial comments, news and views, and letters to the editor (commenting on a publication in SJU): No charge

Exceptions from standard APC
Consortia
Authors affiliated with institutions that are members of certain consortia agreements, may publish open access articles with discount or at no charge. These initiatives are made possible through an open access agreement between MJS Publishing and the consortia, to streamline and facilitate the publication process for all involved parties.
To qualify for the consortia arrangements, authors must meet the following criteria:
- Be affiliated with a participating institution
- Serve as the corresponding author for the manuscript
- Conduct the research primarily at the affiliated institution
- Utilize their institutional domain email for both submission and publication
- Additionally, authors must communicate their eligibility to the Editorial office upon manuscript submission.

Authors in Sweden affiliated with participating BIBSAM institutions may enjoy free publishing.
Eligible institutions
Finland
Authors in Finland affiliated with participating FinELib institutions may enjoy free publishing.
Denmark
Authors in Denmark and affiliated with a participating Royal Danish Library National License consortium member institution may receive a 12% discount on the APC.

Waivers and other discounts
Scandinavian Association of Urology (Nordisk urologisk förening; NUF) Members
A 50% discount on the APC will be granted until 31st of December 2026 for papers whose corresponding author is a member of the Scandinavian Association of Urology (Nordisk urologisk förening; NUF).
Authors based in developing countries
The journal offers discounts and waivers to authors from developing countries, as defined by the HINARI/Research4Lifewaiver policy. The extent of these discounts can range from 50% to 100% of the APC, contingent upon the location of the corresponding author's institution.
