Direct to Acta Oncologica

Acta Oncologica offers an accelerated review process for potentially practice-changing submissions that have been rejected after peer review by high-impact journal due to scope or priority. The manuscripts will undergo an expedited review, which may include additional external reviewers.

To be eligible for this path, the authors should send a presubmission inquiry to the Editor-in-Chief editor@actaoncologica.se containing the following information:

  • Manuscript submitted to the other journal;
  • The decision letter received from the previous journal;
  • The peer review comments in their entirety;
  • Confirmation that the author is not subject to any confidentiality or nondisclosure obligation regarding the reviewer comments;
  • Indication of how the manuscript will be revised to address the review comments provided by the other journal.

The editor-in-chief and/or a co-editor will determine if the manuscript is suitable for submission under the “Direct to Acta Oncologica” path. A response will be provided within maximum two weeks of the contact.

If the manuscript is accepted under the “Direct to Acta Oncologica” submission route, the authors will be invited to revise the manuscript according to the reviewer comments, to add other potential improvement points and formally submit via Acta Oncologica’s ordinary submission route.

At this stage the manuscript should be formatted according to Acta Oncologica’s instructions for authors. Please indicate in the cover letter that the manuscript has been accepted and provide the following:

  • A cover letter indicating that the article has been approved for Direct to Cancer and has been adequately revised according to the reviewer comments;
  • The decision letter received from the previous journal with peer review comments in their entirety and a point-by-point response to the peer review comments, detailing all changes that were made to the manuscript (to be uploaded as Supplementary Material);
  • A tracked-changes version of the manuscript indicating how it has been revised in response to the peer reviewer comments; and
  • A clean copy of the manuscript file.
