Acta Chirurgica Scandinavica

Acta Chirurgica Scandinavica is a not-for-profit society aiming to support and improve surgical research and education. From 1919 to 1990 the society published a journal with the same name. After merging with the Dutch Society Surgical Society the journal changed its name to European Journal of Surgery, and subsequently was incorporated into the British Journal of Surgery (BJS).

In addition to continuing to sponsor BJS, Acta Chirurgica Scandinavica owns two journals, namely, Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Journal of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery, which it still publishes. The society's main aim is to improve surgical research and education, which is facilitated through, amongst other initiatives, supporting the journals in the dissemination of research findings within the relevant areas.
