AbstractTHE “DENTUMATT”
AN APPARATUS FOR TESTING FATIGUE DESIGNED WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO DENTAL PROBLEMS
In the present article an apparatus constructed by the authors for the determination of fatigue strength is described.
This apparatus is called a Dentumatt”. Simultaneously and independently of each other six specimens of dental constructions, or parts of constructions, can be tested. The apparatus can work with constant stress (max. 200 kp), or constant deflexion (max. 10 mm). The cyclic frequency of stress can be varied between N = 120 to 300/min. It is possible to have pauses between the stress cycles.
The specimens can be tested in a dry state at roo temperature, or in different liquid baths at varying temperatures, 37°C being the most appropriate temperature for testing dental constructions.
