Acta Odontologica Scandinavica publishes original research papers as well as critical reviews relevant to the diagnosis, epidemiology, health service, prevention, aetiology, pathogenesis, pathology, physiology, microbiology, development and treatment of diseases affecting tissues of the oral cavity and associated structures including papers on cause and effect or explanatory/associative relationships for experimental or observational studies.

Acta Odontologica Scandinavica is owned by the Acta Odontologica Scandinavica Society (AOSS), a non-profit organization founded in 1939 that promotes dental research and education in the Nordic countries.
AOSS aims to make dental research in the Nordic countries known to an international audience, publishing international English language journals, awarding prizes and scholarships to outstanding researchers in odontology, and supporting activities to stimulate Nordic collaboration in odontology.
AOSS also publishes Biomaterial Investigations in Dentistry
