Abstract

Cells of the cariogenic Streptococcus mutans (Ingbritt) were grown in media containing varying amounts of Trypticase and Phytone, carbohydrates, potassium and sodium ions and phosphates. None of the compounds studied induced or repressed the p-nitrophenyl-phosphatase of the cells, indicating that the enzyme was most likely constitutive.
